There are a lot of questions about replacing bearings on CNC spindles. As a result, we've decided to write a 5-part series of articles to help shops replace damaged bearings themselves.
It's our goal to provide as much support as possible to small shops just starting out or operating on a shoestring budget. It's important to note that we're not advocating DIY spindle repair. Some spindles require specialized equipment and they can get damaged if they're not disassembled right. We've damaged a few over 50 years of spindle repair.
Along the way, we'll give you some tips on bearing replacement for CNC spindles. Almost all of the information presented here is generic and can be applied to mills and lathes.
Even though we try to provide accurate information, there are always exceptions. You should look at the spindle or machine manufacturer first. This is a series of articles about replacing spindle bearings, not everything about rebuilding a spindle.
Should you run into trouble replacing the bearings yourself or have a question, email or call us. We'll do our best to help. Email us at [email protected] or call 1-603-483-0333
